Luca Nierychlo takes overall victory in Lithuania – EMX65 semifinals

Last weekend was the semi-final of the 65cc European Championship
for the young rider Luca Nierychlo from the ADAC Hessen-Thuringia squad.
It is for the drivers from the Central Europe Zone and the North-East Zone to reach the final of the
EMX65. This will take place on the 20th/21st. July in Loket, Czech Republic. So it was an international top field of riders at the start in Lithuania. Only the best 20 riders qualify for this
Final, where these then go to the best 20 riders from the South-East and South-West regions
meet.
After the long journey of approx. 1600km in sweltering heat, Luca initially had a hard time.
Track Walk, but first into the cool water in a pond next to the track. Towards the evening than that
When the temperatures dropped a bit, the track walk was completed. A very demanding and
fast track with lots of big jumps should demand everything from the pilots at the weekend.

As usual, Saturday at the EMX was all about qualifying for the main races
Sunday. Luca was in the much stronger Group B and was able to compete there in the warm-up,
Third place in qualifying and also in the qualifying race. So there was an addition of both
Groups. So fifth starting position is good for the two races on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, the rider of the AK Bouw-Hutten Metaal Junior Team was in a great mood and felt very comfortable on the track after small changes to the bike and finished that Warm Up, in which the 40 drivers qualified for the races drove together in third place.
At midday the time the first race start. Luca got off to a good start and was in fourth place after the first lap and was able to move up to second place by the middle of the race. The Leading Briton Cohen Jagielski, who also secured the holeshot, was no longer for Luca recoverable. At the finish line, about four seconds behind the Brit, Nierychlo secured himself with a strong second place already qualified for the final in Loket. Behind them Estonian Rasmus Näär crossed the finish line in third place.
The fifth grader started the second race highly motivated. When the gate fell he initially showed a great reaction, but lost on the starting straight due to a mistake a few meters to his competitors. There was a massive crash in the first corner. Luckily Luca wasn’t involved. After the first few corners he was around tenth place, immediately put pressure on his competitors so that he was already in second place after first lap. Luca showed an incredibly high intensity on the track with which he is still able to set an attack on the Briton Jett Gardiner to took the lead. He build up his lead continuously and was able to finish the second race safely at any time with a lead of 28 seconds.
Adding both races together, Luca took overall victory in the EMX semi-final.

Conclusion Luca: “I am super happy about the overall victory here in Lithuania and now looking forward to the Junior World Championships in the Netherlands and the EMX finals in Loket a week later.”
A special thank you goes to ADAC Hessen-Thüringen for their support and Collin Dugmore for
the perfect preparation.
