Luca Nierychlo maintains the championship lead in the DM85

It was the sixth of eight events for the German Motocross Championship 85ccm. The club MC Westerhausen presented a new track layout this year and spared no effort to offer the drivers and spectators a top event.
The pilot of the AK Bouw-Hutten Metaal Junior Team also arrived as championship leader. Goal was clearly to defend the red plate of the leader. During the track walk on Friday evening it became clear that overtaking be difficult to almost impossible.
In qualifying we had to wait until the final phase because the track was strong
watered and so the fast times should come in the last two laps.
That’s exactly how it happened. Luca was able to move into second place on his second to last lap. Unfortunately the ADAC Hessen-Thüringen sponsored rider was not able to use his last lap because he was up a group of slower drivers caught up. Some of the competitors did their last lap well
use, so that a lot happened. Luca was passed through and had fifth gate pick for the races.

After the lunch break the first run was on the schedule. Unfortunately the track was completely overwatered , making a good start even more important.
Luca came out of the gate very well and entered the first corner in second place behind Neo Nindelt.
The duo was able to pull away from third-placed John Kranhold in the early stages and
offered the spectators a great battle. Luca kept trying to choose new lines
to push past Neo Nindelt with his GasGas, but the very single-lane track and the front runner’s high speed did not allow this. Due to the lack of blue flags, it came to nothing
The duo repeatedly had problems with lapping, but both came through unchanged
in this order to the finish. Third place went to Tim Schröter, who took third place during the race
a strong driving John Kranhold could take over.

Before the second run, the track was watered well again. Luca didn’t come out of the gate particularly well this time and still had to get going before the first corner behind holeshotter John Kranhold and some of the other top riders. After just a few meters it became clear how high the level was at the moment in this 85cc class. All seven top riders drove one behind the other with incredible intensity
tried to make up positions. Tim Schröter took the lead on lap three and gave up
this no longer out of your hand. Luca tried everything to work his way forward, but again none
come over. After a fall there was no longer any chance of a top placement, but Luca continued to fight and set the fastest lap in the strong field of drivers in the final phase.
Damage limitation was achieved with sixth place in the second race. The heat and
Overall victory went to Tim Schröter, Simon Hahn crossed the finish line in second place, followed by John Kranhold who celebrated his first DM podium.

In the daily ranking, the student from Central Hesse finished fourth overall.
However, he was able to increase his lead in the championship by another seven points to now 19 points expand with two outstanding DM events.
